Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE)

What is the TABE?

The TABE test is designed to assess reading, mathematics, language, and spelling skills. It covers five content areas: Reading, Mathematics Computation, Applied Mathematics, Language, and Spelling.

Is there a fee to take the TABE test?

Yes, there is a $20.00 cash fee to take the test.

How long does it take to complete the TABE?

The TABE is a timed test. It takes approximately 3-4 hours to complete.

What do testers need to bring?

Testers need to bring:

  • A picture ID (FL Driver's License, FL State ID, Passport, etc)

  • $20.00 cash fee (We can only accept $20, $10, $5, and $1 bills)

  • A Social Security card if available


No Electronic devices are permitted during testing (ex. cell phones, Bluetooth headsets, beepers, CDs, DVDs, radios, iPods, etc. Possession of such devices may be cause for test invalidation. NO food or drinks are permitted in the testing room.

TESTING SCHEDULE  (Note: dates and times are subject to change. No testing is conducted on student holiday.)

TABE testing will be offered Monday through Thursday at 7:45 a.m. and Tuesday/Thursday afternoons at 3:45 p.m. when classes are in session.
